Earlier the senior women in the playing XI were paid ₹ 20,000, while the reserved players got ₹ 10,000.
The Apex Council also approved a hike in match fees for junior women cricketers. Junior players in the playing XI will now earn ₹12,500 per T20 match, while reserve players will receive ₹6,250.
In addition, the BCCI has announced a substantial increase in match fees for domestic match officials, including umpires and match referees. For league-stage matches, officials will now be paid a uniform fee of ₹40,000 per day.
Remuneration will further increase during the knockout stages, depending on the importance and stage of the match, with fees ranging between ₹50,000 and ₹60,000 per day.
Under Jay Shah’s tenure as BCCI secretary from 2019 to 2024, the board has worked towards pay equity and expanding professional leagues to increase the visibility of women’s cricket. These efforts have empowered Indian women cricketers, who continue to inspire millions of girls across the world to take up the sport.
The latest fee hike comes on the back of India’s outstanding triumph in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, where they defeated South Africa in the final in Navi Mumbai. With the Women’s Premier League (WPL) also gaining momentum, the timing of the decision reflects a conscious effort to ensure that the growth of the women’s game at the top level translates into tangible benefits at the domestic level.
